As part of the Waterway Cleanup, the Marine Industries Association of South Florida hosts an essay and short story writing contest for middle and high school students in Broward County schools. The entries should focus on the role our waterways play in our community, whether historically, economically or environmentally. This year, students also may submit recycled art projects.
The Waterway Cleanup essay contest (high school students) winner receive $500, while the Waterway Cleanup short story (middle school students) winner will receive $250. The recycled art contest (middle and high school students) winner will receive $250. Winners will be announced at the Waterway Cleanup.
Simply TYPE your essay and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org, with Friend of Nature in the subject line. Please include your name, email and phone number. Recycled art projects can be mailed or dropped off at the MIASF headquarters at 2312 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33316 (MIASF is not responsible for lost or damaged entries). All entries must be submitted by February 20, 2015.
